What People are Saying

"Where the hell is Morgan Chai? She's supposed to be at the top of New York's Best Seller List!"

"I have only had Retrieved for less than two hours and my world has come to a halt because I can't put it down. My husband will just have to order out tonight if he expects dinner."

"...but Fred had to go to California and he took the book with him. He's never done that before, so it says a lot about it."

Welcome to Further Beyond

Further Beyond is the exclusive home to the writings, novels, screenplays and poetry of Morgan Chai. That's Chai, pronounced like sky without the "s". And if you take a moment, we would like to share with you a little about Morgan.

Morgan is one of those unique writers in that she has finely honed skills as an observer, and can write in a way that pulls the reader into wanting to know more. Plus, her books are not "chick books". Men love them, too. You will read more about her skills if you look to the right and click on Morgan's bio. But for this page, we would like to give you a brief overview of her.

It's amazing in everything she writes how the plot, plot twists, characters, narrative, remarkable dialog, realism, everything that makes an outstanding story is done in such a way as without notes, templates, or any other writing tool or guideline . . . just Morgan's amazing mind, lightening fast typing, and a tenacity matched by few. And, if you look to the left you may click on links that will take you to comments made by the reader's of Morgan's books.

The vast majority of publishers dictate that there are specific rules and guidelines to follow if a writer wants to have their manuscript accepted by them. Basically, one must create a cast of characters down to the finest detail, then create a well-defined outline for the story. From there more notes are added to the cast and outline ad infinitum.

For Morgan, she says all it takes is to gather whatever research she needs then she lets her dreams run wild . . . literally. I guess you could say that she develops the cast and outline not on paper, but from life itself.

The next step is what amazes everyone who knows how she writes. Around three in the morning in a dreamy, sleepy state, she sits up in bed, plugs in the laptop then commences to capture the story at a whopping 140 words per minute. Does she get it all at once? "Usually," she says, "at least a chapter or so." Some time later in the day she works on editing, which brings forth even more of the movie in her mind. Then, the next morning, again in the wee hours, the process starts all over again. Is that not remarkable? You will agree when you read her books, articles, and even poetry.

Morgan says the hardest part of writing, isn't creating, isn't editing . . . it's depending on those who have volunteered, and even been paid, to edit her books. After they've had a manuscript for the necessary amount of time they return it with requisite markups, which Morgan makes to the final draft. However, as she is doing that, she discovers errors that none of the editors ever caught. When asked why, the editors all respond (with very similar words) "the books were so fantastic that I had a hard time holding back to proofread."

And we wouldn't do you justice if we didn't tell you that every book is 400 pages or more, and average 145,000 to 165,000 words. So, when you buy any one of her books you are definitely getting your monies worth. What's even better is that they are not what major publishers tell their writers to write, i.e., the man must be this way, the woman this way, children this way, their love developed this way, women cannot be the heroines, yadi, yadi, yadi. Yawn! That doesn't sound like real life to any of us, especially not Morgan. What's interesting is that people buy those "canned" books, knowing exactly what's going to happen in them. We guarantee that you won't know how Morgan's books turn out, and the realism in each will positively amaze you, perhaps even shock you.

Now, for the real treat, you can download, for free, the first chapter, and usually the front matter in each book currently available. FREE. Then read for yourself. And to prove our point about Morgan's writing, reread that chapter and see what you missed the first go around. We've had people tell us that they've read "Retrieved" for example, up to five times and each time they get even more out of it. Morgan's books are not cheap paperbacks that you read once and toss out or donate to a yard sale. Morgan's books are keepers!
