Warning: For those of you, those aspiring authors, take heed:
When Evelyn Fort Stewart first published her life's story it was called "Totally Discombobulated". But, it was published by an unreputable publisher who applied their own ISBN to it and is continuing to sell the book but not pay Evelyn Fort Stewart a penny. Please, please, please, do not purchase "Totally Discombobulated" from anyone.
Then she rewrote the book and titled it "My Miracle" and published it through iUniverse who did much the same. She sent me an email and said, "About My Miracle after "iuniverse.com" published it they sent me 25 books and absolutely refused to sell me one book less than retail price. I bought 1 copy of a hardback and he charged me $34.00 plus shipping. True story. Same story . . . if iUniverse sells any books they keep all the money. Sure makes me feel dumb." We ask again, Please, please please, do not purchase "My Miracle" from anyone.
Evelyn has since rewritten the book (with a co-author), purchased a block of 10 ISBN's (for $300) to give it her own, and has renamed it "Til Death Do Us Part." It can be obtained through her website www.EvesDVHelp.org (DV standing for Domestic Violence. You may also call her at 870-425-2271 or email her at Stewartevelynf1@aol.com
Morgan Chai was asked to write the preface for the book. That's how strongly she feels about abuse, and how much she loves Evelyn for what she is doiing.
In her book Evelyn describes a life past. A life ruled by abuse and domestic violence. The book itself is best described as a 'suspensefull drama', and a 'chilling true story that will bring tears to your eyes', but the best part is that Evelyn Fort Stewart got out and stayed out. It is also being made into a screenplay, so keep your eye out for it.
Til Death Do Us Part is the true, and sometimes tragic, family drama covering a period from 1940 through 1982. The story vividly follows the life of the author as she courageously walks through a seemingly unending cessation of spousal abuse, murder, incest and a legacy of turmoil. Generation to generation, learned behavior is passed down through the family. It becomes a way of life, the only possible way of life unless the chains are fearlessly broken, which Evelyn is trying to do.
The Following is typical of the letters Evelyn regularly receives.
Dear Evelyn,
Read your book and I was spellbound. I had a hard time putting it down. I admire you for having the strength and courage to endure all the hardships you were put through. I can't believe any human being could treat another human being like that. I was always told that anyone that mistreats animals would not hesitate to mistreat humans.
I think every woman should read this book and maybe they can see through your experiences as what to look for in an abusive relationship. I am going to ask my grand-daughters to read it. I know times have changed since then but there are still signs they can look for to help avoid getting into a bad relationship. I am happy to know that you did meet someone who is now enabled to spend some years of happiness.
I talked with Maxine and she said she too was spellbound by your book. She wanted me to give you her best and wishes she could be with us in Las Vegas. She was very happy that I had you send her your book.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Letha
